Lemieux and Saunders both weigh in at 160 lbs – Let the fight begin

Laval, Que – On Saturday night, December 16th, former IBF Middleweight champion David Lemieux will take on WBO undefeated champion Billy Joe Saunders at the Place Bell in Laval.

Lemieux (160 lbs) and Saunders (160 lbs) have made the weight earlier this afternoon. Dominic Ingle (Billy Joe Saunders’ trainer) urged Lemieux to go back on the scale, claiming Lemieux was allowed to jump off the scales before the weight had settled.

“ By the time David got on the scale instead of doing his coaching work and checking the weight, he [Dominic Ingle] was talking to some Saunders fans. When they announced 160, that’s where he wanted to see David’s weight and then he made a scene, ” said Lemieux’s head trainer Marc Ramsey, after the weigh-in.

Lemieux is 4-0-with two KOs since his loss against Gennady ‘GGG’ Golovkin in Oct. 2015. According to the power puncher, Billy Joe Saunders will be in deep trouble if he thinks he’s not a better version than the David Lemieux that fought Golovkin in 2015.

Something personal: During the fight week things heated up between the two fighters. They exchanged jabs all week long. “I’m going to make him pay in the ring,” warned Lemieux. “I’m going to rip off his head ”, added Lemieux after the final press conference.

HBO PPV starts at 9:40 pm EST and is available via Shaw/Telus and at many bars across Canada.
